Patented forced drainage · Commercial food waste processors

Kitchens where the drains never clog

In ordinary food waste processors, wastewater drains slowly, so residue builds up in the pipes and sewers clog easily. Hayeon's patented drainage system pushes wastewater out with force, cutting down on clogs, odors and backflow.

Patented Forced Drainage

Our patented forced drainage system

With gravity drainage, processed water trickles out slowly. Grease and fine particles stick to the pipe walls and settle on the bottom, scale forms, and the line clogs. Hayeon uses a pump at the drainage stage to push processed water out at the right pressure. The water moves faster and spends less time in the pipe, so deposits don't build up.

Cutaway of a commercial food waste processor: loading, fermentation, by-product recovery and patented drainage
STEP 1

Load the food waste

Open the lid and put kitchen food waste straight in.

STEP 2

Microbial fermentation

Microbes multiply quickly and ferment the food waste, sharply reducing its volume.

STEP 3

By-product recovery

The fermented by-product is collected separately and can be used for compost, feed or raw material.

STEP 4

Forced drainage with our patented system

The patented drainage system pushes the separated wastewater out with force, in line with Korea's Wastes Control Act, to keep sewer lines clear.

Why Service Calls Happen

About 70% of food waste processor service calls
are clogs, backflow and odor

With gravity drainage, wastewater flows out slowly, so residue inevitably builds up inside the pipes. Eventually the sewer clogs, dirty water backs up or smells, and someone has to call for service.

Hayeon's patented forced drainage system tackles this cause at the root. It has even cleared sites that had chronic sewer clogs.

Customer Support

Something wrong? Check these first

Self-help steps by symptom for the HYN series (HYN70L · 110L · 150L · 170L · 220L · 300L).If the steps don't solve it, call the service center at +82 1661-3145.

Safety first
  • Turn the power off before cleaning or inspecting.
  • Don't touch the power cord with wet hands.
  • Keep your hands out of the rotating drum and mixer.
  • Don't open the front cover while the machine is running.
  • Don't load food waste while the machine is faulty.

Choose a symptom

It won't turn on

Check these first

  1. Check whether the display (LED panel) on the front of the machine is lit.
  2. If this machine's breaker in the building's distribution box has tripped, switch it back on.
  3. Make sure the plug is pushed all the way into the outlet. A loose plug can make the power unstable and trip the breaker.
  4. Look for kinks, crushing or worn insulation on the power cord.
  5. With dry hands, unplug and replug the cord, then plug another device into the same outlet to check it has power.
  6. If you are using a power strip or extension cord, remove it and use a grounded outlet of 10A or more for this machine only.
  7. Open the large panel at the lower front (outer case) and switch the machine's breaker back on if it has tripped.

Call for service right away if

  • The breaker trips again right after you switch it on
  • The outlet has power but the machine won't turn on
  • The cord insulation is worn or you smell burning

Frequently asked questions

What food waste can go in?

OK to load

Meat · fishFruit scrapsVegetable scrapsRice · noodles · breadOther cooked food and ingredients

Do not load

Beef · pork bonesClam · oyster · conch · abalone shellsWalnut · chestnut · pineapple shellsPlastic bags · ties · tray lidsScrubbers · glass · plasticSpoons · chopsticks · tablewarePeach · plum · apricot · persimmon pits

If a banned item goes in, switch off and take it out.

Can I leave the door open for more than 10 minutes?
Not recommended. The fermenter stops while the door is open, so it may not process the day's waste, and gas inside can cause odor. Opening and closing it often is fine. Restaurants with a lot of waste should load small amounts often rather than all at once.
What should I do during a one- to two-week closure or school vacation?
After the last load, run it for a day or two without adding waste, then switch off with POWER. To avoid water line problems while no one is there, close the butterfly supply valve and switch off. Don't unplug it. In winter the drum can freeze. When restarting, run it a day or two before loading; any initial fermentation smell clears once it runs.
How do I clean the fermenter?
Rinse the drum with an outside hose: front, back, left, then right. Press LOCK to drain while cleaning, and keep water away from the controls and power section.
  • Weekly check for fibers wrapped around the impeller and shaft; if there are any, switch off and remove them
  • At least weekly open the top door and wash around the red area inside the drum
  • Regularly check for debris around the top door and that the door magnet sensor is attached
Will it break down orange peels on their own?
Yes. Loading only one kind of food is a little less efficient than mixed food waste, but the oil in peels has almost no effect on the microbes.
Can I grind bones, shells or seeds and put them in?
They are banned, so it is best not to. Hard grains overload the main motor and settle in drains like sand, and pits don't break down and can damage the perforated screen. If you must load some shellfish shells, keep them under about 10% of the daily load. Food ground fine like in a blender mostly goes straight to the sewer without fermenting.
How do I top up the microbes?
The standard top-up interval is one year to 18 months.
  1. Before leaving work, open the small left door and close the drum water valve.
  2. Open the top door and sprinkle the microbes evenly into the drum.
  3. Close the door and check that the LED panel shows power.
  4. Open the water valves fully when you arrive the next day.
After sprinkling, keep water off for at least 4 hours so the microbes don't wash out. Use one or two 200 g bags, depending on the model, all at once.
